RGB2210HS January 2010-- THE CALL TO PROPHECY: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel -- M. Kolarcik, S.J.

This course examines the place and function of prophecy within Israel during the monarchic period. The call to prophecy in Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel is the starting to point for appreciating the experience and self-understanding of the major prophets as well as the genre which became a rather unique literary expression in the Near East. The goal of the course is for students to appreciate the enduring vision of prophecy in Israel as well as the particular literary genre which gave expression to the conscience of Israel.
