Plasma Pears - This is a real image (not photoshoped) of saffron-vanilla-maple-orange poached pears taken by Normand Robert. The dessert was a collaborative work of David, Normand and Farhad (March 29 2010).

Five F-1 engines of Saturn V moon rocket, Kennedy Space Center, FL. Each one of these F-1 engines is more powerful than all space shuttle engines combined!

The 160m tall NASA Vehicle Assembly Building, Cape Kennedy, Florida. To give you an idea on how big this structure is, the flag is as tall as a 21-story building!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Kayaking in Kelso conservation Area, Toronto, Ontario

Lake Simcoe, Toronto, Ontario.

My niece, Bitta, and I in my surprise BD party, Vancouver, Sep. 2007.

The  Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver, BC. I used to regularly climb the mountain, almost every weekends, with friends.

Night skiing in Cypress Mountain, West Vancouver, BC.

Garibaldi lake, BC. It's an 18 km hike, round trip, to see this beautiful turquoise lake and its glacier source on top of the mountains (1484 m above sea level).

The Pacific ocean, Vancouver Island, BC; standing at the common interface of the sea, the air, and the land; the only three known media in the universe where life exists!

Mount Seymour, North Vancouver. That was such a good feeling, even if you know it's just begging for food :)

At the pointy peak of the Crown Mountain, the second highest peak in Vancouver area (1504 m above the sea level). That was a challenging hike.

A group hike to The Chief, Squamish, BC.

Hobbies:

My hobbies are photography (check my on-line photo album), reading, Persian poetry and playing guitar.

Listen to two poems I recite (Persian) with plying guitar in the background:

Nowrooz 2009 (Hafez)

Yalda 2004 (Shams-e-Tabrizi)

And of course, surfing internet! These are the sites I regularly visit:

www.nasa.gov I'm a big fan of space. And on my wish list, there is a big item: traveling to space!

www.wikipedia.org This is the best place to surf without getting wet.

Questions I found interesting:

  • What is the thing when it goes up the hill it has three legs, but it comes down off the hill with four legs?

  • Of all possible structures, why bees choose hexagons to build their combs?

  • Is there any particular reason that majority of plants on earth are green in color?
